Favourites Revisited: October 2014

Today we'll be checking what my monthly favourites were for October 2014 and we will see if I still use the products or if I still like them or not, or if the products are still available anymore.

The first product is the Philosophy divine blushing bronzer in the shade light. I remember really loving this bronzer and finishing it up completely, but when I went to buy it again, I realised that Philosophy has discontinued their beauty line. If it was still available I would buy it again.

O.P.I nail laquer in O.P.I Red:
I still have this product (same exact bottle) and it's still going strong, I still use it regularly.

Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray:
I remember using up the mini and buying a full size bottle but after using up the full size I don't remember what happened. I probably started using something I already had in the drawer. This product is still available to buy on Beauty Bay. I might buy it again and give it another go!

Stilla Angel Light Powder Foundation:
I remember using this to set my foundation and really liking it at the time. This product is discontinuted so I wont be able to buy it again, but if I could a probably would.

Essence Lash Princess mascara:
I love this mascara and have gone through neumerous tubes of it in the last 10 years. Thisis one mascara that I will always have on hand. I really hope they don't discontinue it anytime soon!

It's mad when you sit back and look at the products that you use to use 10 years ago and realise what has been discontinued and what has turned into your holy grail products.

If you like this type of post let me know.

Review: NYX Buttermelt Bronzer in Deserve Butta

I bought this back when they first came out and have been using it on and off since.

This product reminds me of the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzers, however the NYX once seems to melt into my skin more.

The shade Deserve Butta is described as a light medium neutral. It's actually a little dark on my skin but I can make it work. I might look at getting a lighter shade. There are 8 different shades to choose from ranging from light neutral to deep rich warm neutral.

These are powder bronzers that blend into the skin like a cream as they leave the skin looking silky smooth and don't leave a powdery finish at all.

These are cruelty free and vegan and cost €9.45 from Look Fantastic or Superdrug. if you like the Physicians Formula one then I'd say you'll love this one.

Review: Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette

This is a really nice palette packed full of golden neutral shades. This contains 12 shadows in a mixture of matte, metallic and shimmer finishes.

whether you want a very subtle neutral eye look or a pop of golden shimmer this is the palette for you. Below is a list of the shade names and a brief description of the colours and finishes:

I have to say, some of my favourite shades would have to be HBIC and Amber. But for a neutral everyday look, I quite like Sweet on the lid, Drip in the crease and Sting on the outer corner.

This comes with the classic Urban Decay double ended Smudger/Tapered crease brush which I find myself reaching for quite often as it's a really nice brush.

Overall if your a golden neutrals girlie then this si the palette for you.

Review: SHEGLAM So Rich Waterfroom Liquid Eyeliner

I've had this eyeliner for a few months now and have been using it on and off over that time.

The tip of this eyeliner pen is super pointy yet flexible whhich makes it very easy to get a sharp wing.

The pigmentation is amazing! It's super black and doesn't fade throughout the day. This doesn't smudge at all and I find that I need to use an oil based makeup remover to get it off completely, which is a good thing!

At the moment this is down to €2.96 on Shein, link here so if your interested in getting one for yourself now would be the time!

Review: La Roche-Rosay Toleriane Caring Wash

Coming into the winter months my skin can start to feel very dry and deghydrated. As I also have very sensitive skin I wanted to try and get on top of it before the weather gets too cold and the heating would be on constantly which would dry my skin out more.

This product leaves my skin feeling clean, fresh and hydrated. It is designed to be used on sensitive, reactive skin and helps to maintain the skins natural protective barrier and PH level.

If you have simular skin to mine you should give this a try.

Review: Aldi Blending Sponges

I spotted these in Aldi the other day while picking up a few bits and had to try them.

Like all other beauty sponges, this can be used wet or dry and with either liquid or powder products.

When wet this doubles in size and is super soft and bouncy. The pointed end is great for blending out products around your eyes.

These come as a pack of 2 and are only €2.99! The texture is very simular to that of the Real Techniques sponges.

If they have these the next time I pop in to Aldi I'll definitly be stocking up.

October 2024 Favourites

Below are some of the products I have been loving for the month of October.

Essence Nail Polish in Anything Goes:
This is a beautifu berry shade that looks great coming into the colder winter months. I've actually been wearing this on ly fingers and toes all month. This formula also works well for me as I can get a full week out of this before it starts to show any signs of chipping.

Maybelline Lash Sensationsal Firework Mascara:
This is a great mascara. It seperates my lashes and makes them look longer. This doesn't smudge or transfer during the day. Check out my post from last month if your interested in a full review.

Lacura Illuminate Setting Spray:
This helps my makeup stay in place all day and feels very light on the skin. This is said to be a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless setting spray but as I've never tried that I wouldnt know. The Lacura setting spray is realy nice and I would recommend that you try it.

Well they were my favourites for the month of October, let me know what yours were.

Review: Ciate London Liquid Velvet, Liquid Lipsticks.

I bought these a while ago in TK Maxx and remember thinking at the time that they would be perfect for Halloween.

These are extreamly pigmented and don't dry your lips out like some other liquid lipsticks. These feel very comfortable on the lips and don't flake off or wear off patchy.

The Shades I have are Chatterbox, Obsession and Envy:
  • Chatterbox - Fuchsia
  • Obsession - Dark Chocolate
  • Envy - Teal
These contain Hyaluronic Acid which helps to condition the lips.

The wand has a presision tip which helps to line the lips first and then fill them in. These are great liquid lipsticks for those that want to step out of their comfort zone, and for those that don't, they also come in more wearable everyday shades.

Love,
Jen

Quick and easy Halloween Nail Art Ideas.

Below are some very quick and easy nail art ideas for last minute Halloween nails.

Nail 1:
  • Start with painting the nails with 2 coats of a White polish.
  • Once dry, use a black polish and a small striping brush to make a ghost face of your choice, I chose something along the lines of Jack Skellington.
  • Once everything is dry, finish with a matte top coat over the entire nail.

Nail 2:
  • Start with painting the nails with 2 coats of a Black polish.
  • Using a Red chrome/shimmer polish and a striping brush, use the brush to manipulate the polish into the shape of blood drops.
  • Once everything is dry, finish with a top coat over the entire nail.

Nail 3:
  • Start with painting the nails with 2 coats of a White polish.
  • Once dry apply a matte top coat over the entire nail.
  • Using a black polish and a very small striping brush, make the shape of a spider.
  • Once dry apply 2 rhinestones and some holo top coat to the body.
  • Finish with a top coat of your choice.

Nail 4:
  • Start with painting the nails with 2 coats of an Orange polish.
  • Once dry, use a black polish and a small striping brush to make a pumpkin face of your choice.
  • Finish with a top coat of your choice.

Well they were some very quick last minute Halloween nail art ideas.
